Superbird, the winged Plymouth
The 1970 Plymouth Superbird was built specifically for NASCAR homologation alongside the Dodge Daytona. The massive rear wing and distinctive nose extension make it one of the most recognizable American cars ever made. Only 1,920 were built.
Documented Superbirds are six-figure cars. Hemi-equipped Superbirds are well into six figures. The agreed value must be established through specialist appraisal, not book values.
Cooper's take
The Mopar collector community in NC is active and knowledgeable. Plymouth owners often come to me already knowing what their car is worth. My job is to make sure the carrier agrees with that valuation and that the agreed value is captured correctly in the policy, not buried in a stated value provision that can be reduced at claim time.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Hemi 'Cuda the most valuable American muscle car?
The 1970 Hemi 'Cuda convertible holds the record for the highest price paid for an American muscle car at auction, having sold for over $3.5 million. Documented Hemi 'Cuda hardtops trade between $500,000 and $1.5 million. They require Lloyd's or specialist placement at these values.
Does Plymouth Superbird insurance require specialist coverage?
Yes. At $150,000 to $400,000+ for documented examples, a Superbird is well above the threshold for standard specialty programs. Agreed value must be set through proper documentation and appraisal.
Can I get insurance on a Plymouth Road Runner as a daily driver?
Classic car specialty policies require that the car not be used as a primary daily driver. If the Road Runner is your primary vehicle, standard insurance applies. If it is a weekend and show car with a separate daily driver, specialty classic car coverage with mileage limits is available.
