Classic & Collector Car Insurance
Classic AMC insurance in North Carolina
The AMX two-seater is one of the rarest American muscle cars. Javelin, Rebel Machine, and Hornet SC/360 are growing collector targets. All are undervalued relative to comparable GM and Ford muscle.

The AMX, rarest American muscle
The 1968-1970 AMX is the only two-seat American production car of the muscle car era other than the Corvette. Only 19,134 were built across all three years. Rare engine options including the 390 and 401 command premiums.
AMX values have moved significantly as collector interest has grown. A well-documented 390 or 401-powered AMX in excellent condition is a $50,000 to $70,000 car today and rising.
Cooper's take
AMC collectors are among the most passionate I work with. They own something genuinely rare, they know the history, and they want insurance that actually understands what they have. I make sure the agreed value on an AMX reflects current market reality, not what someone bought it for fifteen years ago.

Frequently asked questions
Is the AMX worth more than a comparable Javelin?
Generally yes. The two-seat body makes the AMX rarer and more collectible. Comparable Javelins are typically 20 to 40 percent less valuable, though Javelin AMX and Trans-Am tribute cars are closing that gap.
Are classic AMCs covered by specialty carriers?
Yes. Hagerty covers classic AMC vehicles with agreed value. American Collectors also has experience with AMC muscle. These carriers have been covering AMCs for decades.
Will AMC values continue to rise?
Most AMC specialists believe AMC muscle is undervalued relative to comparable GM and Ford product. Growing collector interest, shrinking supply, and generational nostalgia all point toward continued appreciation.
